Shuddha Guggulu: Comprehensive Evidence-Based Product Monograph for Lipid Management and Metabolic Health

1. Introduction: What is Shuddha Guggulu? Its Role in Modern Medicine Alright, let’s talk about Shuddha Guggulu. I’ve been prescribing this compound for nearly fifteen years now, and I still find myself going back to the original texts when new research comes out. It’s humbling, really. Shuddha Guggulu is the purified form of guggul, an oleo-gum-resin obtained from the mukul myrrh tree (Commiphora wightii, formerly Commiphora mukul). The “Shuddha” prefix indicates it has undergone traditional Ayurvedic purification (shodhana) to remove water-soluble impurities and enhance bioavailability.
